Andy Barnham’s portrait galleries. Andy has been a photographer for almost two decades. Landing on Savile Row, the home of British bespoke menswear after leaving the British Army, he became an editorial jack of all trades covering topics and events such as cars, craft, fashion, food, interiors, and music. The common theme between all of these assignments were the people involved, be it the CEOs, the drivers, the tailors, the models, the chefs or the musicians. In 2019 Andy decided to specialise in portraits and headshots. He currently lives in Cheltenham, the historic Regency spa town nestled on the edge of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire.
Lifestyle portraits
Andy spent a decade in editorial media, being commissioned by UK and international magazines and titles, taking lifestyle portraits of the people behind the best of British and international fashion, heritage and craft. His portraits include Olympians, fashion and industry CEOs, Master Distillers and Master Tailors, and politicians as well as actors, chefs, drivers and musicians. Andy’s lifestyle portraits, taken on location, incorporate environmental and situational elements into the composition in order to add detail to the images to give background and nuance to the subjects and how they are presented.
Andy’s headshots are portraits taken in a studio with a backdrop and flash lighting. The portraits combine Andy’s lighting skills with his interpersonal ones to establish a relationship with this portrait sitters to create meaningful portraits with emotional honesty.
