Portraits of shoe maker Tim Little, Creative Director and owner of both Grenson and his own eponymous brand Tim Little, at his old store and offices (now closed) on King’s Road, London. The image with his logo in the foreground was taken with me standing outside the shop and photographing through the glass front door, hence the ‘Tim Little’ lettering; taken on commission for an editorial title, this frame was used as the image leader for the article when it was published.

I was lucky in regards to lighting for the portraits of Tim Little; his location had large windows allowing for generous amounts of natural light and the weather that day was bright but overcast, which meant lots of diffused light and little to no direct sunlight which would have made for hard, aka strong and harsh, shadows.

Of all the people I have met and and photographer over the years I felt an affinity and relatability to Tim, his love of music, cinema and design. A fan of jazz, one of the walls of Tim’s office was an homage to the music insofar that it was filled with black and white portraits of famous jazz musicians. While I, myself, am not a fan of jazz, I love the music that I love so seeing a wall visually dedicated in my medium to music of any type was wonderful to behold. This relatability is perhaps why I found myself purchasing several pairs of his shoes, shoes I have to this day.

I am a portrait photographer based in Cheltenham, UK. Born in Hong Kong to a Chinese mum and British dad, I had an international upbringing while I educated in the UK. I started photography as a hobby while serving as an officer in the British Army.
After my service I turned this passion into a career and became immersed in London's sartorial scene. I am now focusing my camera on portraiture and using this eye for detail which was refined over ten years. As a former Royal Artillery officer it is only fitting I shoot with a Canon camera.
