Description
Sitting In A Field, four children sitting in a field next to a track in Helmand Province, southern Afghanistan. I took this photograph during my second tour of Afghanistan in 2008 when I was deployed in the role of an Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (OMLT) attached to the Royal Irish with 16 Air Assault Brigade. I was an OMLT of one person working with an Afghan National Army unit and in April was conducting a joint vehicle based patrol with the Royal Scots Borderers, the British Army unit responsible for security for that area of operations. The patrol, lasting three days and overnighting in the desert, was the first rural patrol I was involved in during Op HERRICK VIII with this image being taken as the patrol drove past the children’s location.
All proceeds will go towards the Sulha Alliance who work with and for Afghan interpreters and other Locally Engaged Civilians (LECs) both campaigning for their resettlement and supporting the rebuilding of their lives in the UK.
