Judo Girls, two girls laugh while rolling on mats during a judo session in Kabul. I took this photograph during my first tour of Afghanistan in 2006 while I was attached to Head Quarters, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul where I served as a military interpreter having volunteered to learn Farsi at the Defence School of Languages in Beaconsfield (now closed). This image was taken in August while accompanying (now) former GB judo player and retired Squadron Leader RAF Samantha Smithson while she gave judo masterclasses. During the course of two days I accompanied Samantha to various locations in the city as she gave lessons to both boys and girls in Afghanistan’s capital city.
All proceeds will go towards the Sulha Alliance who campaign for the rights of former Afghan interpreters who have served with the British military, both to get them out of Afghanistan and supporting their resettlement in the UK.
