Four Girls, four girls in colourful outfits standing by the side of the road in the vicinity of the governor’s house in Lashkar-Gah, the provincial capital of Helmand province, Afghanistan. I took this photograph during my second tour of Afghanistan in 2008 when I was deployed in the role of an Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (OMLT) attached to the Royal Irish with 16 Air Assault Brigade. I was an OMLT of one person working with an Afghan National Army unit and in April we were responsible for protection and Vehicle Check Points (VCPs) around the governor’s house while he hosted a meeting. I took this candid image of the girls, part of a larger group of children, as they played next to one of check points.
All proceeds will go towards the Sulha Alliance who campaign for the rights of former Afghan interpreters who have served with the British military, both to get them out of Afghanistan and supporting their resettlement in the UK.
